Standards and Benchmarks
Content Standards refer to the major ideas in any subject area. The standards in each subject are constant across all grade levels; the scope of what is taught and assessed varies at grade levels.
Benchmarks are subdivisions of the ideas stated in the standards and convey the scope of must be learned to attain the standards.
Objectives are specific learning segments related to each benchmark that describe what students will learn at each grade or developmental level.
Critical Objectives: A critical objective defines the most essential skills, knowledge and processes to be taught and the student is expected to master. Critical objectives will include those learnings students will be held accountable for through assessments used in the district.
