Professional Learning Communities and Response to Intervention

Since the 2010-2011 school year, Clinton High School has reduced academic failures by 55% and increased participation in Advanced Placement, Honors, Concurrent, and Post Secondary Education Opportunities to the point that 52% of our students in 2016-2017 school year took a highly rigorous academic course.  We have also seen a 1% increase in student attendance since instituting PLC's and RTI at CHS.  Increased attendance has not led to increased behavior referrals as our students feel safe and supported as the number of behavior referrals have dropped 43% since the 2010-2011 school year. CHS's efforts have been recognized by the professional development firm Solution Tree during the 2016-2017 school year, by naming CHS a Model PLC school, one of only a handful in the country. 

Below you will find the information that has moved Clinton High School toward success for every student.  Implementation of PLC's and RTI is a collaborative approach, that includes buy-in from all stakeholders.  The PLC process is one of the driving forces behind what makes CHS successful.  Key ideas and significant actions that led to these dramatic outcomes include a highly efficient building-wide Intervention team that uses individual student data to identify and address students in need of Tier 2 or Tier 3 RTI support.
