At Whittier we are Mission and Vision centered:

• Mission: All students will achieve at high levels so that they will become productive members of society.

• Vision: Every policy, program, and practice of Whittier Elementary School will reflect our commitment to ensure that all of our students’ social emotional needs are supported so that they can learn at high levels.

Our primary purpose at Whittier is to educate our students so that they are well- equipped to move on to the next phases of their lives. We value educating the whole child, and therefore we focus on many areas of learning including literacy, mathematics, computer science, social studies, fine arts, physical education and social-emotional development.

Whittier’s team of educators consist of a group of highly-qualified, caring, nurturing members who treat each child with respect and dignity in positive, friendly classrooms that are conducive to learning. We believe each child is our child, and their growth and safety are our priorities.

We are proud of our accomplishments! Whittier is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, a Model Professional Learning Community School, and a State of Iowa Computer Science School! As a result, our kids are offered many various engaging, interesting learning activities to grow into deep, independent thinkers who collaborate, problem solve, create, and celebrate!

Whittier Elementary partners with parents, families, and community members to educate our students. We understand and believe in the critical importance of these relationships as they affect our students’ growth and success.
