This year the Clinton Elementary Schools will be utilizing the traditional opening day of school with an initiative to better improve two-way communication with the teacher and parents/student.   This is in response to prior experiences and expanding communication with parents starting with the first day of school.

In the past the elementary schools have offered the traditional "Back to School Night".  Although there was a lot of excitement, we found many downsides of this event as well.  Classrooms were overcrowded.  There was a high noise level.  Parents in many cases were trying to relay important information about their child's learning needs or medical needs/concerns.  Given these experiences of the "Back to School Night", much of the communication was lost.  Many times this became apparent at fall conferences in November when the teacher and parents/child had the opportunity for this two-way conversation.

On August 23, Clinton Elementary Schools will be scheduling 15 minute meetings with every student and their parents to meet the teacher, allow the parent to discuss any concerns about their child's success heading into the new school year, relay any medical concerns that the school district needs to be aware of (this may include the school nurse).  The child will also have an opportunity to find and organize their desk.  The teachers will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 23.

Remember that this only will occur at Clinton Elementary Schools.   CHS will have "Back to School Night" on August 18 and CMS has their "Back to School Night" scheduled for August 21.

Please take advantage of this opportunity for your child to get off to great start to the school year.

Thank you for your support of Clinton Community Schools!
