DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday Feb 25 2025

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

  • CHS Conferences will be Wednesday from 2pm to 7pm and Thursday from 4pm to 7pm.  Due to the lack of space in the Commons the teachers will be in their classrooms.

  • We have another great opportunity for Juniors and it is right in our backyard!  March 11th is the CCC Junior Career Day/College Fair.  We will start at CCC with the college fair and then go to the National Guard Armory for the career exploration portion. If you are interested please stop by Mrs. Klinkhammer to sign up and grab a special absence form. You must be signed up by Friday March 7th. We will have an informational meeting that day and will work on creating a strive scan account for you to use at the college fair.

  • Pride Club has created a commemorative plaque to celebrate unity and diversity at CHS! If you'd like to sign and show your support, please contact either Audrey Morris or Rin Ciner. All are welcome to sign it!

  • Attention, girls soccer....OPEN GYM is Wednesday, Feb. 26th at 6pm in Yourd gym.

  • Seniors: The last day to complete your senior survey is Saturday, March 1st! Add a senior quote or share a memory or accomplishment to be featured in the yearbook. See an email sent by Mrs Melvin for the form link. Also remember that senior photos are due March 15th. No late submissions will be accepted.

  • Juniors: Remember that you have until February 28th (this Friday) to register for classes for next year. If you do not meet with your counselor before that date your counselor will select your classes and you will not be able to make changes until May after the 8th graders have registered.

  • Attention - girls soccer players, meeting today, after school at 3:45 pm in room #309 for a preseason signup and informational meeting. Please see Coach Feaster if you are unable to attend.

  • Need a new book to love? Stop in the library for “Blind Date with a Book”.  The library has some books wrapped up. Pick one, check it out, and read it.  Love it? Hate it?  Rate your book for a chance to win a prize.

  • After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library!  There is no cost.  We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! We will NOT have tutoring on Thursday Feb 27 due to conferences.

  • The River Queen Basketball team played on Saturday night in their District game against the Maquoketa Cardinals.  The Queens played a tough opponent and could not overcome their size inside and their shooting from long range and ended their season losing 61-25.  Leading the team in scoring was Alli Haskell with 11 and Carryn Sattler with 6.  Sattler added 9 boards and Aubrey Fergurson added 7.  The Queens ended their season at 9-14 but will have everyone returning on a team with no seniors.

  • Last night, the River Kings made their way to Decorah to take on the class 3A #2 ranked Vikings of Decorah High School in the first round of the 3A state postseason basketball tournament. The Kings battled hard from the opening tip, staying close into the second quarter. But the Vikings kept increasing their lead starting midway through the second quarter and into the second half. The Kings could not account for all of the weapons the Vikings possessed, and ended up losing the game 52-77. Thank you to this year's Seniors: Mharlo Guy, Jordan Coleman, Tyler Daniels and Cole Johnson. We are so appreciative of the hard work and dedication you have given to this program and want to wish you good luck in your future endeavors. No matter where you are headed you will always be a RIVER KING!! GO KINGS!!!
