The Kings finished in 8th place and the Queens finished in 4th place. There were two individuals that finished in the top 8. Charlie Pelham finished 5th in the state and Emily Whitehead finished 3rd. The River Queen Basketball team played on Saturday night in their District game against the Maquoketa Cardinals. The Queens played a tough opponent and could not overcome their size inside and their shooting from long range and ended their season losing 61-25. Leading the team in scoring was Alli Haskell with 11 and Carryn Sattler with 6. Sattler added 9 boards and Aubrey Fergurson added 7. The Queens ended their season at 9-14 but will have everyone returning on a team with no seniors. Last night, the River Kings made their way to Decorah to take on the class 3A #2 ranked Vikings of Decorah High School in the first round of the 3A state postseason basketball tournament. The Kings battled hard from the opening tip, staying close into the second quarter. But the Vikings kept increasing their lead starting midway through the second quarter and into the second half. The Kings could not account for all of the weapons the Vikings possessed, and ended up losing the game 52-77. Thank you to this year's Seniors: Mharlo Guy, Jordan Coleman, Tyler Daniels and Cole Johnson. We are so appreciative of the hard work and dedication you have given to this program and want to wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
