Congratulations River Kings wrestlers on going 3-0 last night at Beckman. The Kings beat Marion 45-27, Beckman 45-27 and Maquoketa 64-17. The River Kings were led by Mark Stoddard, Adis Ravmanoski, Jakob Litherland, Hunter Ball, Brody Harrington, Isaiah Lines, Danny Peters, Nolan Eggers, Damarius Robinson, Cooper Cooley , Hayden Chandler, and Sloan Weaver who all had huge wins on the night. JV Winners were Riley Engelkins, Jason Wheat, Chase Collender, Joaquin Donaire, Jack George, David Peralta-Flores, Liam Petersen. Great Job Kings
The River King swimmers were back in action last night against a tough opponent in Dubuque Senior. CHS competed hard, but ultimately fell to the Rams, 119-42. Despite the tough competition, the Kings showed their competitiveness and had a number of great swims including multiple lifetime bests. Cameron Zimmer brought home the lone event win for the Kings in the 500 free. Picking up season/lifetime best swims were Trey Dykstra, Cale Lampe, Jace Burgland, Jayden Krogmann, Saul Marcos, Carson Borgman, Asher Dornbush, Dylan Todtz and Vinnie Srp. The Kings are back in action on Saturday at the Mustang Invite at Dubuque Hempstead.
The River Queens basketball program got back on track last night versus the West Falcons winning big in both games. The JV girls won 55-20 and move to 5-3 on the season. Lilly Schneeberger was hot again from the outside hitting 5 threes and ended up with 16 points while Audry Gruhn had 14 and Tenley Cewe with 10. The Varsity girls came out quick getting up early and coasted to a 66-38 win and move to 5-4. Many girls filled the stat sheet last night with Jhaliana Guy leading the way in scoring with 31. Lilly Hankins and Carryn Sattler both had 8. Sattler also added 10 rebounds while Samantha Powell added 8, Aubrey Fergurson 7 and Alli Haskell 7. Guy added 6 steals and Haskell had 4 assists. Congrats to Aubrey Fergurson who became Clinton's all-time career leading rebounder! If you see her, make sure you tell her "Great Job"! The Queens play next on Friday at Muscatine and again on Saturday vs. Sterling in the Iowa-Illinois Shootout.

A total team effort led to a 63-17 win for the Freshman. The sophomores started slow in their game, down by a score of 22-37 at halftime. The sophomore group came out inspired in the third quarter, pressuring the Falcons and cutting the lead down to 8. The Kings fought hard but ultimately came up short with a final of 55-69. The Varsity team ran into a tough Falcon basketball squad who shot the ball well. The kings fell by a score of 52-77. The Kings are back in action Friday evening in a boy girl doubleheader at Muscatine High school. Go Kings!

Students taking CCC classes, either online or through the academy during the second semester, are required to attend a meeting during FLEX 1 today (Wednesday, 1/7) or tomorrow (Thursday, 1/8) in the auditorium. Students only need to attend one of the meetings, but attendance is important and will be taken. If you have any questions, please email Marla at marla.schultz@csdkq.org.

The River Queen wrestlers traveled to Dewitt last night to take on the Sabers and the dual did not disappoint! A back and forth battle that kept everyone on the edge of their seat ended with the River Queens taking home the victory 45-34! A lot of tough, gritty wins came from the River Queens even a few girls avenging a previous loss. Overall the River Queens put on a great performance and we are proud of their attitude and effort last night. The River Queens return to the mat this Saturday at the 3rd Annual River Queen Duals in Yourd Gymnasium starting at 9am. Keep up the great work girls! Be A Queen!

The Queens lost both the JV and Varsity games last night for the first time this season against Pleasant Valley. The JV Queens lost 58-25 in the first game of the might. Cewe was the leading scorer with 9 points. The Varsity Queens again fought hard but came up short narrowly losing 49-46. Jhaliana Guy had 19, Fergurson 12, and Haskell 10. Rebounding, Fergurson had 9, Guy had 8, and Sattler had 8. Hankins had 4 assists and Haskell had 3. The Queens will try to get back in the win column as they play Central DeWitt on Friday before they head into Christmas Break.

After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! We are getting to the end of the semester. Let us help you get those grades up.
Book Club will meet January 5th during both flexes. That is the day we get back from winter break.
Make sure you still bring your computers and chargers to school on Friday. The library has a limited number of computers and chargers to loan out.
The Queens lost both the JV and Varsity games last night for the first time this season against Pleasant Valley. The JV Queens lost 58-25 in the first game of the might. Cewe was the leading scorer with 9 points. The Varsity Queens again fought hard but came up short narrowly losing 49-46. Jhaliana Guy had 19, Fergurson 12, and Haskell 10. Rebounding, Fergurson had 9, Guy had 8, and Sattler had 8. Hankins had 4 assists and Haskell had 3. The Queens will try to get back in the win column as they play Central DeWitt on Friday before they head into Christmas Break.

Students wanting to hear from Mr. Hook and learn more about the trade are welcome to visit room S144 during the first flex. He will then be in or near the commons area during the second flex.

The Clinton River Queens Junior Varsity wrestled at the Cedar Rapids Kennedy Girls Invitational on Monday. The girls showed growth in their matches, improving their technique and overall wrestling flow as they competed against tough varsity competition from Iowa City Liberty, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Benton, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Dubuque Senior, and Keokuk. The team continues to put in the work in the wrestling room, and it is showing. The future of River Queen Wrestling is bright! The Clinton River Queen wrestlers travel to DeWitt on Friday for the Saber Girls Invitational at 4 pm. The River King Boys Basketball were on the road against Pleasant Valley last night. The Freshman squad opened up the night against a tough PV freshman team competing hard, but ultimately fell to a score of 64-21. The RK basketball Sophomore team faced a tough challenge on the road against Pleasant Valley, The kings battled during the game, down 6 at the half. The Spartans offensive shooting proved to be too much for the kings, who fell 63-31 in what proved to be a learning experience for the young squad. RK Basketball Varsity faced a challenging test on the road against Pleasant Valley Varsity, falling 73-31 in a tough away game. Marshall Johnson led the offensive effort for the Kings with a season high of 18 points going 8-14 from the field. All three levels are back in action this Friday at home in a boy-girl doubleheader versus Central DeWitt as they close out the first half of the season. Go Kings!

Yesterday, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Pleasant Valley at High Five Lanes. The varsity boys lost 2441 to Pleasant Valley’s 3087 while the varsity girls had a good performance and won 2769 to Pleasant Valley’s 2129. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 335. Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 411. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Tucker Sechrest with a 2 game series of 384. Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 428.
