Last night the River Kings hosted Muscatine in a MAC conference Matchup. The Sophomore boys opened up the night of basketball in Yourd gym. The sophs had a complete team effort on both ends of the floor, with key contributions from everyone who stepped on the court. The sophs went wire to wire, never trailing in the game in a final of 61-51. The Freshman Kings followed with an exciting game, trailing at half. The Kings stayed the course, continuing to battle. A couple of big shots and key stops down the stretch proved the difference as the Freshman were able to win 45-41. The Varsity squad headed one of the tougher opponents of the year with the Muscatine boys being tied for first in the conference and in the top 10 in 4A. The Muskies physical defense and ability to run in transition were the difference, as the Boys struggled to hit shots to keep it within striking distance. Varsity ultimately fell 48-72. The Kings have senior night this Thursday in the final home game of the season against Maquoketa. Please come support our boys, especially our two seniors- Konnor Schroeder and Marshall Johnson. Go Kings!

Congratulations to the River Royalty Speech Team for a spectacular performance at the state speech contest last Saturday. Out of 11 events, 9 received a Division 1 rating and 2 received a Division 2 rating. We are so proud of their incredible performances and accomplishments this season. For the first time in school history, a record number 4 large group speech events have been nominated for the All-State level! River Royalty Speech will travel to Iowa State University to be recognized in 2 weeks! If you see the following students, please congratulate them on this record-breaking accomplishment! The River King wrestlers battled Davenport North last night losing a tough one 36-30. River Kings winning their matches on the night were , Mark Stoddard, Jakub Litherland, Alfonzo Herrera, Danny Peters, Cooper Cooley, and Hayden Chandler. The JV wrestlers also had a great night as well and winning their matches were Joaquin Donaire, Joey Anderson, Liam Petersen, Magnus Kjormoe, Logan Spooner, Dylan Dean, Tre Engelkens and Riley Engekins. Outstanding job wrestlers. The Kings end their dual meet season with a record of 8-4.

The Camanche Trap Team is starting the 2026 spring trap shooting season in a few weeks. There is an Informational meeting Thursday, February 19th at the Imperial Lanes in Camanche at 6:30pm. This is open to students from any school 5th -12th grade. Questions or can’t make the meeting call Coach Adam Frahm 563-212-6187.
