After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend!
We will be offering the ASVAB here at CHS on January 29th. Yes, this is the military entrance exam but it is also a career exploration tool. So if you would like help exploring careers this would be a great tool. We do not report anything to the military. Please email Mr. Avise - Rouse if interested or have any questions.
The River Queen wrestling team is resilient, they don’t back down from a challenge and they continue to improve. What these ladies have accomplished this season is nothing short of amazing! We’ve lost numerous wrestlers, battled through illness and much more, yet they continue to show up and compete. Our Queens took 3rd today at the Louisa Muscatine Girls Invitational and we saw a lot of great matches. We learned some hard lessons, but we couldn’t be more proud. Results: 100- Cambyl Sattler- 2nd. 105- Avery Watters- DNP. 110- Jharia Knox- 5th. 115- Elizabeth Flatman- DNP. 120- Kalia Bruggenwirth- 5th. 125- Alaina Carpenter- 1st. 130- Mena Albaghdadi- DNP. 135- Madiy Halloran- DNP. 140- Nayobie Brown- 3rd. 145- Lauren Whitney- 1st. 155- Lauryn Mangan- DNP. 170- Liv Lonergan- 4th. 190- Allegra Luckritz- 5th. 235- Lacey Corbin- 6th.
Congratulations to the River Royalty Speech Team! Saturday, they competed in 13 events and came out with 11 events advancing to State Competition on February 7th! Receiving a Division I rating were 3 ensemble acting pieces, 2 improv groups, 2 solo mimes, a reader's theater, a musical theater, one radio news broadcasting, and one short film! Receiving a Division II rating were one radio news and one short film. This is an incredible accomplishment! What a great day to be a River King and Queen!
On Saturday, January 24th, the CHS Varsity bowling teams attended the 15 team Muscatine Invite at Rosebowl in Muscatine. The varsity boys finished in 15th place with a 2628. The Varsity Girls finished in 2nd place with a 3081 behind Louisa-Muscatine who had a 3142. Great job ladies taking 2nd Place.

The River Queens played two games Thursday night against the Bettendorf Bulldogs in Yourd gymnasium. The JV Queens pulled out a tight one winning 40-38 and holding off a late charge by the Bulldogs and avenging an earlier loss in the season at Bettendorf. Audry Gruhn led with 17 points and 14 rebounds with 7 other players getting into the scoring column. Kassidy Eggers added 9 rebounds, Addy Cramm 6 boards and Tenley Cewe and Phoebe Levine 5 boards. The Varsity Queens faced the #15 ranked team in 5A last night whom they had beaten earlier in the season. The Queens were solid in the 1st half on both ends of the court building a 26-21 lead. Some hot shooting from the Bulldogs in the 2nd half helped them gain the lead and eventually put the Queens away 73-59. Jhaliana Guy led all scorers with 37 points and is now the school record for most points in a game which was held by Shauna Geronzin! Alli Haskell added 9 points and Carryn Sattler and Aubrey Fergurson added 6 each. Fergurson also added 11 rebounds. The Queens play on Tuesday against North Scott at the Pit where they will hope to bring out some revenge against the Lancers after an earlier season loss.
Congratulations River King wrestlers on their strong 8th place finish in the rugged 17 team Bob Lueders Invitational on Saturday. The Kings had 11 placewinners on the day! Danny Peters placed 2nd, Brady Harrington 5th, 6th place winners were Damarius Robinson, Angel Lines and Sloan Weaver. 7th place winners were Jakob Litherland, Hunter Ball, Ty Sander-Welzien, and 8th place winners were Mark Stoddard, Nolan Eggers and Cooper Cooley. Great job wrestlers!
Last Friday the River Kings traveled to Bettendorf to start the second round of the MAC conference games. The freshman showed up to battle but ended up in a loss. The sophomores played a physical basketball game, competing hard in the second half but fell to the Bulldogs 36-59. Our Varsity River Kings came to play, playing great team defense and sharing the ball. Marshall Johnson led the Kings Defensive effort with 12 boards in the game, and Cole Shannon led the Kings offensive effort with his best offensive performance this season. The Kings could not hold on to a lead late in the game, falling to the Bulldogs 55-60. The Kings are back on the road against North Scott this Tuesday in a boy-girl doubleheader!

The counseling office will be offering a small group during 2nd semester where we will work on soft skills together to help support you in achieving your goals. Please email Mr. Avise-Rouse if you are interested.
Prom is in May, but two requirements to go are good attendance and passing grades. Those start now with the new semester. So make sure you are going to your classes and getting help to get/keep those grades passing.
Tryouts for high school colorguard are coming up! For anyone interested in being a part of the color guard in the fall, you need to attend these tryouts. The first date is February 18th at the high school from 4-6 pm. Meet at the band room doors. If you have any questions, email Ms. April

The River Queen Varsity Basketball team went to Davenport Central Tuesday night in MAC conference competition. The Queens started slow but turned in later to win 74-47 and move to 9-6 overall. Guy led all scorers with 31 while Haskell added 16 in the effort. Fergurson added 10 rebounds while Powell and Haskell added 5. Guy ended with 8 steals and Hankins added 3. The Queens play tonight as they look to knock off the Bulldogs for the second time this season.

Winning for the Kings were; Mark Stoddard, Adis Ravmanoski, Jakob Litherland, Hunter Ball, Brody Harrington, Alfonzo Herrera, Danny Peters, Eric Harris, Damarius Robinson, Cooper Cooley, Hayden Chandler and Sloan Weaver. The Kings are back in action Saturday at home in the Bob Lueders Invitational. Great job Kings!

Yesterday 1/20/2026, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Muscatine at Rosebowl. The varsity boys lost 2302 to Muscatine’s 3093. The varsity girls won with a score 3019 to Muscatine’s 2037 and the JV girls bowled unopposed and got a win with a score of 1963. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 335, Jordan Cowger with a 2 game series of 365. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Emily Whitehead with a 2 game series of 476, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 485. Top scorers for the Girls JV were: Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 335, Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 355.
The River Kings took on traditional swimming powerhouse Bettendorf last night at the CHS Aquatic Center. While the Bulldogs took the 113-54 win, there were a number of bright spots for the Kings. Cameron Zimmer and Jayden Krogmann had a 1-2 finish in the 50 Free, while Vinnie Srp and Asher Dornbush did the same in the 100 Back. The River King Basketball boys played Davenport Central at home last night. The Freshman opened up the evening with a battle, getting to overtime the boys fell to the Blue Devils 42-38. The Sophomores followed up in a battle, playing great defense. The sophomores held on to win 44-39! The Varsity Kings ran into a red hot Blue Devil squad who shot 58% from the 3 point line, and fell to the Blue Devils 44-74. The River Kings start the second cycle of MAC basketball at Bettendorf Friday night! Go Kings!

Prom is in May, but two requirements to go are good attendance and passing grades. Those start now with the new semester. So make sure you are going to your classes and getting help to get/keep those grades passing.
During Flex time today, Clinton Public Library will be at Clinton High School with a fun, drop-in activity. Any students who would like to participate are welcome to stop by—no sign-up required.
Tryouts for high school colorguard are coming up! For anyone interested in being a part of the color guard in the fall, you need to attend these tryouts. The first date is February 18th at the high school from 4-6 pm. Meet at the band room doors. If you have any questions, email Ms. April

Yesterday 1/20/2026, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Muscatine at Rosebowl. The varsity boys lost 2302 to Muscatine’s 3093. The varsity girls won with a score 3019 to Muscatine’s 2037 and the JV girls bowled unopposed and got a win with a score of 1963. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 335, Jordan Cowger with a 2 game series of 365. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Emily Whitehead with a 2 game series of 476, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 485. Top scorers for the Girls JV were: Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 335, Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 355.
The River Kings took on traditional swimming powerhouse Bettendorf last night at the CHS Aquatic Center. While the Bulldogs took the 113-54 win, there were a number of bright spots for the Kings. Cameron Zimmer and Jayden Krogmann had a 1-2 finish in the 50 Free, while Vinnie Srp and Asher Dornbush did the same in the 100 Back. On Saturday, January 17th, the CHS bowling teams attended the 12 team North Scott Invite at Rosebowl in Muscatine. The varsity boys finished in 11th place with a 2492 and did not make bracket play. The Varsity Girls were seeded 1st in brackets with a score of 2771. In the first round of brackets, the girls faced Davenport North and won 2 of the 3 matches with scores of 173/167/227 to Davenport North’s scores of 161/226/139. In the championship match they faced Camanche and won the championship with scores of 194/196 to Camanche’s 184/153. The JV girls finished 2nd with a score of 1360 behind Bettendorf’s 1815. Great job Girls in your 1st and 2nd Place finishes.
Congratulations River King wrestlers on an outstanding showing at the Solon JV Invitational Monday night. 1st place winners were; Chase Collender, Joey Anderson, Bastien Balous and Magnus Kjormoe. 2nd place winners were Mark Stoddard, Oliver Steward, Camdynn Bray, Jason Wheat, Joaquin Donaire, Dylan Dean and Zane Weaver. 3rd place winners were Carter Cant, Liam Petersen, Roger Schumacher, Griffen Keefer, David Peralta-Flores, Titus Moody, Jack George, Angel Lines, Cormac Nichols and Landon Clark. 4th place winners were Ray Vongxay, Lucas Hewittt, Logan Spooner, Diego Donaire, Chaz Zirkelbach, Joel Morales-Romero, Wyatt Graham, Tre Engekens and Riley Engelkins. Outstanding job wrestlers!
The River Queen wrestlers picked up two wins last night. Clinton 60 - Erie 24. Clinton 66 - Fulton 18. The River Queens battled in their final home meet of the year. On top of the two wins, we were fortunate enough to celebrate our Senior Akemah McClendon. She has been with us since the beginning. We are proud of you kid, can’t wait to see what’s next! We also honored our Middle School wrestlers last night. Our numbers continue to grow and that’s because of the hard work Coach Rue and Coach Cottrell put in. Good luck to those girls who wrestle today. Great job ladies, Be A Queen!
Both of the Queens Basketball squads played two games over the weekend. The JV Queens participated in the Assumption JV Tournament on Saturday and saw their 6 game winning streak come to an end. The JV Queens lost 78-44 to Central DeWitt in their first game of the day. Phoebe Levine led in scoring 8 points and Audry Gruhn added 7 points and 9 rebounds. In their second game, the JV Queens lost to Assumption 53-48. Gruhn finished with 13 points, Kassidy Eggers and Lilly Schneeberger added 12. Gruhn added 9 boards while Schneeberger added 3 assists. Tenley Cewe added 3 assists and 3 steals. They move to 8-5 on the season. The Varsity Queens picked up two wins moving to 8-6 on the season. Friday night the Queens won big against a winless North team 71-28. Carryn Sattler led the scoring with 18, Jhaliana Guy 17, and Alli Haskell 14. Aubrey Fergurson had 13 rebounds and Haskell 4 assists. 9 total Queens recorded a steal in the game as they ended with 24 as a team. Saturday the Queens crossed state lines to play a solid River Ridge team but rolled easily to a 64-31 victory. Guy scored 28 points, Sattler 14, and Haskell 8. Fergurson added 10 boards while Guy added 5 assists and 3 steals. The Queens are at Davenport Central tonight and at home on Thursday night against Bettendorf.
