Welcome to Clinton High School!

My name is Theresa Shultz and I am the proud principal of Clinton High School. During the 2023-2024 school year our staff will be focusing on how we engage our students and one another to give them opportunities to find and show their success! Being a parent to an eighth grader and senior, I absolutely love the experiences our students have while attending Clinton Schools. We are excited to have you here to learn and grow with us! We are a school of just under 1000 students and offer something for everyone:

  • Choose from 50 highly rigorous courses (Honors, College, or Advanced Placement courses) that will get you on the right path to the two-year or four-year institution of your choice.

  • 50 opportunities to find the right club, activity, or athletic team to find your niche. Our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) group is one of the most recognized FBLA groups in the state, as they routinely compete and place at the national level! We have an extensive arts program, including Acapella and Show Choirs, Orchestra, and various levels of band. If you are driven to intense athletic competition, Clinton High competes in the Mississippi Athletic Conference and have new clubs like girls and boys Rugby!

  • Apprenticeship opportunities in Welding where our students partner with local businesses to experience the welding trade and get paid for it!

  • Be a part of Synergy! Synergy is a particular group of kids who work with a team of teachers and business leaders to help solve our community’s problems during the school day!

  • iJag: Serve our community while developing employability skills to be college or career ready!

While we know that the past three years have been challenging (to say the least) with the pandemic and its aftermath; we are dedicated to helping each student achieve their dreams and helping them do more than they ever thought they could, overcoming any hurdles in the way. Whether it involves academic goals or social connections, we are committed to helping you be the best you. We will do that in the following ways:

  • Our three-time, nationally awarded American Association of School Counseling (ASCA) counseling department is here to help you navigate your academic and social lives.

  • We are fortunate to have a mental health provider dedicated to CHS. Sometimes the stress of being a teenager can catch up to anyone, so it is essential to know that we have people here to help!

  • The way that CHS teachers, counselors, and administrators collaborate is a nationally recognized model. We devote our professional time together to identify and support students academically.

  • CHS was awarded the Bronze Medal for Achievement by U.S. News and World Reports for four consecutive years.

  • CHS has also been named a model Response to Intervention (RTI) Site for our work to ensure that every student reaches success. The honor is bestowed on only a few secondary schools in the entire country!

  • CHS is ranked in the top 40 on the annual AP Index.

  • Our Student Council received the National Gold Council of Excellence award from the National Association of Student Councils.

  • CHS is home to 49 State Championship teams on our athletic fields with numerous All-State participants. Our newest state champion is our 2021 Boys Bowling team!

  • Our Fine Arts programs have been the recipient of many awards and nominations!

We know that all of these things don’t happen without the immense support of our staff, our children’s caregivers and our community. I am so excited for the work in front of us and partnering with you to serve our students! Please reach out at any time, I am here to help and while I don’t have all the answers I will work relentlessly to assist in removing barriers to help all students find success!

Respectfully,

Theresa Shultz

Principal
