#CHSRenoUpdate | April 2025
Wrapping up Phase 2 / Phase 3 begins
Expected timeframes:
• Finish the demo work at the front this spring
• Start foundation work for Phase 3, which involves constructing a two-story main office area for staff, as well as a large commons/entry area for the lunchroom and inner theater entrance. This construction is expected to wrap up in late 2026 or early 2027.
• Work on the back parking lot (south side) has begun and we hope to have that completed by June (2025)

The Brain Health Retreat Room at the Education Advancement Center (EAC) is a new resource designed to support high school students as they work on brain health strategies. Developed by Brain Health Now, a nonprofit organization founded by Debi Butler, the space aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness while offering practical support for students' mental well-being. Through partnerships and funding from Brain Health Now and their supporters, this room is part of a broader effort to establish similar spaces in high schools across Iowa. The room is designed to be a serene, calming environment with various lighting options, positive wall appliques, and comfortable seating, creating a safe and welcoming space for students to self-regulate and reset.

The CMS choirs had 8 students attend the East-Central ICDA 7th and 8th Grade Honor Choir in Mt. Vernon last Tuesday (3/25)! They spent all day rehearsing and polishing their music, and ended the evening with an INCREDIBLE concert!
Great job to these 8 talented musicians!

Congratulations, Jessica and Carrie! Jessica and Carrie are both Math Instructional Coaches for Clinton Elementary. It was their idea to bring "Thinking Classrooms" to CCSD - a teaching approach that prioritizes active student engagement, critical thinking and problem solving by encouraging collaboration and open discussion. These two offer coaching cycles where they model lessons. The began with math and are now extending our Thinking Classrooms to literacy, science and social studies.
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, Jessica and Carrie!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week with some fun days at school! Crazy socks to begin...
❓Did you know...
The National Education Association launched Read Across America in 1998 as a year-round program to celebrate reading. Given Dr. Seuss’ impact on the reading world, his birthday (March 2) was declared Read Across America Day. This also commences Read Across America Week and Read Across America Month.
