The River King boys golf team participated in the District meet yesterday at Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta. After what proved to be some fast greens and high scores for all players, the Kings shot a 372 for the team and edged out Cedar Rapids Jefferson in the 14 team meet. For the Kings, it was Scott Pasakarnis taking the team medalist honors with an 89. Second score for the Kings was Nathan Frye with a 91, Connor Busse was third with a 93, and Ray Brown got the fourth score for the Kings. Also playing yesterday were Cohen Thorpe and Hunter Frahm. This meet brings the end of the Kings season with only the top 3 teams making it to the state meet later this week. Coach McEwen is grateful to have coached the Seniors that played the last few years. They helped tie the record for most wins in a season since Coach McEwen took over 5 seasons ago. He hopes that their determination can rub off on the younger players coming up through the program and lead to breaking that season win record again in the near future.
The Sophomore Volleyball Queens traveled to Northeast for a Tri Match last night. The Sophomores came away with 2 wins versus Midland and host Northeast. The Sophomores return to MAC play tonight as they take on Davenport Central. The Freshman traveled to Davenport to take on two MAC teams. The freshman Queens walked away with two wins against Davenport West and host school, Davenport North. The freshman finish the fall season with two matches on Thursday at Pleasant Valley.
