Last night River Kings and Queens competed in the thirteen team State Qualifying Meet at Solon that featured eight state-ranked teams and some of the best individual runners on the east side of the state. Varsity girls placed 6th missing 5th place by a mere four points. The Queens were led by medalists and 3A State Qualifiers Carryn Sattler 10th and Alli Haskell 12th. This is Carryn's second consecutive trip to the State Meet in Fort Dodge. Aubrey Rivers placed 25th, Sescie Haan, Akemah McClendon, and Kirstin Bengtson rounded out the scoring. Varsity boys placed 11th. The Kings were led by Kolton Lorion who ran a twenty second PR and narrowly missed qualifying for state by one place. Ed Weiner, Zarek Haskell, CJ Estes, Jordan Stafford, David Peralta-Flores, and Jayden Krogmann rounded out the scoring for the Kings. The team had two PRs by Lorion and McClendon and two season's best from Sattler and Bengston. The JV runners brought great energy and support to the squad that helped our team secure two state births. The coaches would like to thank the seniors for their efforts throughout their career, our administration for their support, and all the students and staff that have followed the team all season. If you see a runner in the hallway, give them a high-five. If you see Carryn and Alli give them a double high five for making it to the State Meet! Nice job Kings and Queens.
