Right behind Akemah, Lauren Whitney and Cambrie McLoyd took 2nd place, wrestling really tough opponents. The River Queens placed 2nd out of 17 teams!  In the JV tournament The Queens crowned 3 champions while taking home the team title! The champions were Jharia Knox, Margie Robbins and Sophia Costello. Avery Balog took 2nd while MyTran Duong, Tayvia McLoyd, Jadyn Morrow and Brianna Cuatlatl took 3rd. Great job ladies!  The River Queens return to the mat tomorrow at Midland! Good luck ladies!

  • River Queen Girls basketball quieted the STORM and brought some SUNSHINE as they opened their season with two solid victories Friday night at Camanche.  The JV team set the tone for the night with solid offensive play and stifling defense to end the first half up 28-5.  Continuing that same combination in the second half, the Queens soundly defeated the Storm 45-10.  Leading the young Queens were Phoebe Levine with 13 points, Lilly Hankins with 10, Ali Haskell with 8, and Samantha Powell with 7.  In the Varsity contest, the Queens jumped out to a 14-3 lead scoring the first points of the game and never losing the lead.  Second quarter proved to be a tough scoring for Clinton, as the lead was only five points heading into halftime.  Camanche started the 3rd quarter with 5 unanswered points to tie the game up but the Queens regrouped and scored 13 unanswered points to build a 33-20 lead. The "Storm reached its strongest point" as they got to within 2 points within the last minute but the Queens held on and clinched the victory with 2 free throws in the remaining seconds to help silence the Storm and complete the sweep! Leading the Queens was Ali Haskell with 13, Carryn Sattler with 10, and Aubrey Fergurson with 7.  Sattler and Fergurson both ended the game with 13 boards and Haskell led the defensive attack with 6 steals.  The Queens play next against Davenport North on Dec. 3rd at Yourd Gymnasium.  Go Queens!
