  • Finals are Tomorrow and Friday. Make sure you charge your computers overnight and bring your computer & charger to school. Due to our limited number of loaner chargers they will not be loaned out.  If you end up needing power, bring your computer to the library and we will charge it and let you borrow a loaner computer for that class.


  • Senior photos for the yearbook are due February 15th. That is in ONE month. No late submissions will be accepted.


  • Attention Sophomores: Please check your email regarding a Google form for Class Shirt Voting. The voting closes at 1:35 pm today.


  • Dear sophomores and juniors.  Do you ever feel like you need help coping with life's many challenges?  Maybe you zone out when things get tough or get angry. The counseling office is going to run a small group during the second semester.  We will meet weekly during the school day to help teach students coping strategies.  If this is something you are interested in please see or email your school counselor.


  • The Counseling office will be giving the ASVAB on January 30th. This is a great tool for career exploration. Please contact Mr. Avise-Rouse to sign up.


  • Interested in participating in individual speech? Attend an individual speech information session TONIGHT from 7:30 - 8 a.m. in Mrs. Lemon-Levy's room. Please enter through the academic wing doors. Mrs. Lemon-Levy and Miss Struble will provide an overview on individual events; discuss what will happen at “auditions” later in the week; and share their expectations for the individual speech season. Questions? Ask Mrs. Lemon-Levy during the school day.


  • Girls Soccer -- open gym this week-- Today Jan. 15th at 6pm in Yourd gym.


  • Pride Club is planning to attend the Student Day at the Capitol with Iowa Safe Schools! They will be travelling to Des Moines and meeting lots of politicians and lawmakers. They'll advocate for themselves and try to make Iowa a better place for everybody! The event takes place on February 25th. If you are interested, please notify Rin Ciner as soon as possible. The deadline is Friday, January 17th. We hope to see you there!


  • Seniors graduating at the semester:  Don’t forget to return your computer, books, ect. to the library when you are done with them.  The computer needs to be charged enough to start up and have any stickers or writing removed from them.  If you are interested in going to Prom in May the library would also like an email address that you check regularly to send the sign-up form to. Your school email will remain active till June and the sign-up form will be sent there also. 


  • The traditional AP poster photo is today at 1:40 immediately after school. Please get down to the locker hallway by the SWing as soon as school ends. Our goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible


  • Show your teachers some appreciation of their "sweater weather" designs! Find all 28 choices outside of the library.  Choose your favorite design and vote in the library.  The teacher who's design gets the most votes will win a prize.  Voting is open until January 17th.  The winner will be announced on 1/21.


  • Due to finals on Thursday and Friday the Daily Announcements will not be read.  Please take the time to look at them in your email.  The “joke of the day” will be a “comic of the day”.


  • Last night, the River Kings traveled to Davenport to take on the Knights at Assumption High School in a MAC Conference basketball game. The Freshmen Kings were in a tight contest, and were leading by 4 points at the half. The Freshmen ended up being defeated 35-48. The Sophomore Kings played aggressively all night, were leading by 14 late in the game, and held on for the WIN, beating Assumption by a score of 48-46!! The Varsity Kings ran into a tough Assumption team and lost 51-76. The Kings are back in action this Friday night as they travel to Davenport North in another conference tilt. GO KINGS!!


  • The River Queen basketball team split in their games against Assumption last night and moved their record to 6-5. The Queens held the Knights scoreless in the 3rd Quarter helping to seal the victory 27-22.  Kassidy Eggers was the leading scorer at 6 with 9 total players scoring for the Queens.  The Varsity Queens lost a heart-breaker after playing solid offense and defense for most of the game but let the lead slip away in the final seconds to fall 42-41.  Sattler led the Queens with 10 points while Fergurson and Haskell had 8. Haskell also had 6 assists and 5 steals. The Queens move to 4-7 and have been in position to win their last four games.  Keep improving Queens!
